Confusion Over 7,404 GPO Posts – Uncertainty Continues
The government planned to fill 10,954 Village Administrator (GPO) posts. Already, 3,550 candidates have been selected through a written exam from old VROs and VRAs. The remaining 7,404 posts were supposed to be filled through direct recruitment.
But now, revenue employee unions are asking the government to fill the remaining posts from within the department instead of through new recruitment. This is worrying many unemployed people who were waiting for a TGPSC notification.
From June 2, GPOs will work in only 35% of villages. The rest—about 65%—will be without GPOs, making the need to fill these posts urgent.

Originally, the government wanted to split the recruitment between direct recruitment and adjustments from the revenue staff. But after some opposition, it was decided to recruit all posts directly. Now, only 4,558 old VROs and VRAs applied, and 3,550 were selected.
Revenue staff unions now want the government to give jobs to those who didn’t write the exam or failed, plus other revenue staff, instead of opening it up to outsiders.
This has left many job seekers worried. The government had promised to recruit the remaining posts directly, but the pressure from revenue staff is causing delays.
Lakhs of unemployed youth are waiting for a clear answer on how the government will fill the remaining GPO posts. The government needs to make an announcement soon so that everyone knows what to expect.
