Telangana Police Department to Fill 12,000 Vacancies Soon!
The Telangana State Police Department is preparing for a new phase of recruitment, with nearly 12,000 posts expected to be filled shortly.
Officials are awaiting final instructions from the state government and are ready to submit proposals to begin the recruitment process immediately.
Background: Police Hiring Trends
In the past, police recruitment was carried out in phases.
Following the tragic bomb blasts at Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat in 2007, the then government decided to strengthen the force by announcing 35,000 vacancies.
Due to administrative reasons, these posts were gradually filled over several years.
The latest major recruitment was completed by 2022, where 17,000 posts were filled by the Telangana State Police Recruitment Board.
In 2024, the newly elected Chief Minister Revanth Reddy issued appointment orders to those who completed training from the 2022 batch.

Why the New Vacancies?
In April 2021, the Telangana government extended the retirement age of employees from 58 to 61 years.
As a result, many officials who were due to retire stayed until March 2024.
From April 2024 onward, retirements have resumed, creating a fresh wave of vacancies in the police department.
Initial reports estimate 12,000 vacancies, mostly at Constable and Sub-Inspector levels — with the possibility of numbers rising after a complete review.

Once the government issues official permission, the recruitment notification will be released without delay.
